Sleeping Beauty- In the Disney film Sleeping Beauty, the message that is implied is that women are helpless without men. This gives false belief to the targeted audience (children), as it gives the impression that a woman is incomplete without love and that they need a strong, masculine prince to be happy in life. Sleeping beauty is one of many original, old disney films that give this strong message to the audience. It seems that the older disney movies all have this message.   

Cinderella- In the Disney film Cinderella, it shows a miserable young girl that is treated badly throughout her young life. Cinderella spends majority of the film daydreaming about having a man to full fill and rescue her from the slavery her evil step mother forces her to do. This implies to the audience, that having a man can take you away from any suffering in life and as disney films are mostly aimed at a young age group, like sleeping beauty, it is again giving children false belief by making them believe that being in a relationship, and in love is the only possible way to be happy and drawn away from other problems occurring. Cinderella is another old disney film that portrays this strong message to the audience.

Tangled- Tangled is one of the few Disney films that show that not all women are focused on waiting for a handsome prince to rescue them. Rapunzel shows throughout the film that she is independent and is more interested in her life long dream to see the floating lights. This disney film shows that Rapunzel isn't remotely interested in getting a 'Prince Charming' and doesn't need a man to rely on and make her happy. However, it still shows help from a male within the film but only to make her dream come true.  This shows that women can be strong and determined and also that life is not focused around love and needing a mans attention. Tangled, like the other films i have spoke about, has a younger target audience and proves to the young children watching the film, that they are able to discover new things and that not all happiness comes from love, it can also come from following their dreams. Tangled is a more recent film which shows the change from older disney movies deliberate message, to now choosing your own path in life and creating your own happiness without needing a man to do so.

Best Selection for Double Page Spread of my Music Magazine

I have chosen these three pictures for my best selection for the double page spread as i feel that one of the three would go nicely across two pages. It will focus in the middle of two pages and relevant writing will be placed around it. I like the attitude and serious facial expressions my models have as it related to the rock theme. I am unsure as to whether to take the background out of this picture as i like the darkness it gives. This image is also based on my research.

Best Selection for the Contents Page of my Music Magazine

I have chosen these three, similar pictures for the best selection of my contents page because i didn't want the whole band on every page.  I decided it would look better focusing on one member of the band and i am also going to take the background out of the image i choose out of the three. I have based this image on research i have done.

I like the attitude of my model and the way they are using the electric guitar, which i think gives the impression she is out of a rock band also takes her music seriously and passionately which will appeal to the targeted audience.

Best Selection for Front Cover of my Music Magazine

On Thursday 14th January 2016 my photo shoot for my music magazine took place. I have chose these three pictures as my best selection because i feel one of these three will suit my magazine best and show the attitude of the starring band. I have decided to take the background out of the picture i choose and i like the way my models are at different heights standing on the stairs in the first two. Their outfits show that they are a rock band as they are wearing dark, ripped clothing which gives the impression of a stereotypical rock band.

I feel that this image will appeal most to the target audience of my magazine again, because of the attitude shown in their facial expressions and body language, this will show that the band take their music seriously.

I have based this image on my research as every magazine i have seen and liked shows that the models have no expression and i feel this gives the best impression.

Photoshoot - Thursday 14th January

Today i done my photo shoot and took many different photos with different angles which gave me a variety to chose from. I feel with all the different angles and variety of pictures i have took i will be able to chose professional pictures for my magazine.

Next, i will chose the photos i think are best for my front cover, contents page and double page spread.

Mise en Scene - Props Needed

As i got nearer to my photo shoot, i decided to change the props i am going to use. Instead on having two electric guitars and a microphone i decided to use just one electric guitar. I felt that using as many props as i was originally going to use would make the picture look less professional and seem as though i was trying to hard to create the rock look. I thought more into it and i concluded that less is more.

Mise en Scene - Costumes and Make Up

As i come nearer to the date of my photoshoot and do more research into style models i have slightly changed my costumes and makeup for my actors.

Kate - Ripped jeans, Doctor Martin boots, leather jacket and a slogan top. 

Abbi - Ripped tights, skater skirt, Doctor Martin boots and a slogan top.

Ellie - Black dress, ripped tights and Doctor Martin boots. 

I have chosen these types of costumes for my magazine to create 

the effect i am wanting to achieve to my target audience for my magazine. 

I have changed the way i want my makeup, i have decided that i'm going to go with a subtle look, winged eyeliner and natural looking eyeshadow. I done this because i didn't want my models to look like they was trying to hard to have the rock look with the dark, black eyeshadow i originally wanted.

Mise en Scene - Location Update and Permission Required

As i got closer to my photo shoot and done more research, i have decided to just remove the background out of my images completely and add a dark colour into the background instead. By doing this i feel that it will make my magazine look more professional as all the style models i have researched have done this. I also think that taking the background out will make it easier to chose a colour scheme for my magazine.

So, instead of a stone wall as my background i will ask for permission off the caretakers in my school to have use of the main hall. I want to use the main hall as my location as it has many blank walls to easily take the background out and it has the lighting i want for my images, i also would like to use the steps leading to the main stage to give my actors different heights in the image. As you can see in the picture to the side, the hall has blank background and steps that i can use to my advantage to get an idea of what my magazine will look like after the background is taken out.

I will also ask permission off Mr Lidell to see if i can miss period 6 on Thursday 14th January incase my photoshoot takes longer than the free periods i have on this day.

Other Photoshoots i am Modelling in

On Thursday 14th January i am not only doing my own photoshoot i am modelling in Kate's aswell. This will also take place in the hall and she is doing the same genre as me, rock. For this i needed to bring in dark clothing which consisted of darkish, blue jeans and black clothing.

On Thursday 21st January i modelled in both Abbi and Ellie's photoshoot. They are also taking their photographs in the school hall. For these photoshoots i need two different outfits, both bright and colourful clothing which matches their genre, pop music.

Mise en Scene - Additional Information

I am taking time in my free lessons to ensure my photoshoot will be completed by the end of Thursday 14th January and is the best it can be.

Mise en Scene - Equipment Required

I have asked Mr Lidell if i can borrow a camera and tripod which will help my pictures be more professional and better quality. I have booked the date of Thursday 14th of January so that Mr Lidell knows i am wanting to use it on this date and to make sure it is available for me.
