Mise En Scene- Time Management

I have realised that i will not fully complete all the aspects of mise en scene for my magazine this term if i am wanting to complete it to the best of my ability. However, in January when i come back to school, i will then look at taking the photographs for my magazine and focus on everything else in more detail so it does not come across rushed. By doing this i will hope to achieve the best grades possible.

Mise En Scene- Camera Angles

The camera angle i am going to use for my front cover picture of the band is a long shot. I am using this type of shot so that the camera gets each band member in equally and allows the audience to view the whole image, including props and costumes so they get the full effect i am trying to achieve. I think this shot will be most effective as the costume, attitude and props will be the main features to imply the genre i have chosen to the audience.

Mise En Scene- Props

I have thought a lot about the type of props i am going to use during my shoot. I have decided i am going to use two electric guitars with two of actors holding them in a playing position, this will give the audience rock music impression from the image and the attitude shown.

I will also use a microphone for the other member of the band to show that all band members contribute to the music created. I will do this as i want the attended audience to see the passion my actors will show.

Mise En Scene- Location

The location i have chosen for my shoot will be against an old stone/bricked wall which will give my rock theme a good setting that matches the genre i have chosen. By choosing this kind of background i feel that it will give a professional setting to match the actors and props i am going to use. The old, wrecked image we get from these stone walls will match well with the ripped, ruined clothing i have decided my actors are going to wear.

Mise En Scene- Costumes and Makeup

For my costumes, my rock band will be dressed in stereotypical rock clothing which will consist of dark, dull but eye catching  colours with leather jackets and Dr Martain boots. I would also like them to wear ripped clothing as that is what i have mostly seen when researched. By doing this i hope the audience gets the full effect i am trying to create.




For the makeup, i will try many different ways of creating the rock, attitude look. They will mainly have dark, black makeup around their eyes so that they stand out to the audience. They will also have a bright bold coloured lipstick on. The reason i have chose this kind of makeup is because i want to suggest rock and roll and show the passionate attitude i have seen on other music magazines to the audience.

Mise En Scene- Actors

In my magazine it will feature a band of three girls and the actors that will be modelling for me will be Abbi Harper, Ellie Dean and Kate Skeggs. They are all a similar age and fit nicely into the image i have planned for my magazine. They will be used many times throughout my magazine and may also be used individually.

Reflecting My Magazine Choice

Based on the research i have done, i have decided that the music genre my magazine is going to be is Rock. The reason i have chose this genre is because i think it would be enjoyable finding props and costumes and there is many different ways to set it out.

My magazine is going to be aimed at the following:

The targeted audience for my magazine would be 13-19 as i think teenagers would be interested in this genre and in my research the most frequent age varies between this age range.
It would also be targeted towards both genders but mostly males based on the rock magazines i have researched.
The price i would sell my magazine for would be £2.00 as i think this is a reasonable price for a magazine and it is not too pricy for teenagers that would be interested in it. When i researched the prices for rock magazines it varied around £2.00-£3.50 which influenced my decision for the price. 
My magazine would feature many bands, some of these bands would be Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Greenday, etc.

Kerrang magazine is a very popular rock magazine. It features well known rock bands and artists such as My Chemical Romance, Greenday and other popular rock artists.

Q:
Q feature popular well known artists in their magazines. The artists that feature in this magazine usually have songs that are regularly played in the charts. It features artists such as Adele, Ed Sheeran, Madonna, Cheryl Cole and so on.

Music Genres That Interest Me

Rock and Roll, i am interested in using this genre when doing my magazine as it would be enjoyable when finding costumes and props to make my magazine seem professional. On the magazine covers i have seen within the Rock and Roll genre there is a lot of detail and this would benefit me when getting used to the photoshop tools and developing my skills. Kerrang is a rock band that interests me because their music is catchy and also their lyrics are relatable.

The music genre Pop interests me as it contains many different popular artists. I would use this type of genre for my magazine as i listen to pop more than any other genre so know more about the artists within this genre. I think i would enjoy using this genre when doing my magazine as i can get plenty of ideas from the many different magazines based on this genre. I think this is probably the most popular of all the genres as many artists create catchy pop songs that are usually played alot. One of my favourite artists is Beyonce because she has an amazing voice and produces good songs.
